In 2005 a horse called Numbersixvalverde won the Irish Grand National and then followed-up by winning the Aintree Grand National in 2006. Bobby Jo is another example of this after winning the Irish Grand National in 1998 and the Aintree Grand National in 1999.
Another big Irish Grand National runner over the years to win the race were Desert Orchid (1990), while the last horse to win back-to-back Irish Grand Nationals was Brown Lad in 1975 and 1976.
