Race History
This exciting horse race has been running since 1865, where the first winner was The Sign. It is a 2.000m race that is organized by the Victoria Racing Club. Over the years, the race was known by various names until it was finally named the Turnbull Stakes Race in 1948. In the 1800s, it was two miles in length and then shortened to one mile. The current length of 2.000m has been in place since 1971.
