Moonee Valley Racing Club
Known as the MVRC, the Moonee Valley Racing Club has been around since 1883. It was founded by William Samuel Cox who now gives his name to the Club’s feature race, the WS Cox Plate (click to learn more about the WS Cox Plate race). Organising racing at Moonee Valley, the MVRC is one of three such organisations in and around Melbourne alongside the Victoria Racing Club and the Melbourne Racing Club.

Autumn Racing Carnival at Moonee Valley

Spring Racing Carnival at Moonee Valley
Highlighted by Cox Plate Day, the early betting final for which causes major excitement on its own. The Manikato Stakes and the Feehan Stakes are also major events to take place at Moonee Valley from October onwards.

Moonee Valley Race Track Directions
There a number of ways to get to Moonee Valley. Shuttle buses are provided, leaving from Flemington Racecourse and Visy Park to the track.
If going by train, you can climb aboard at Flinders Street and jump off at Moonee Ponds Station. From there, the track is just a 10-minute walk away. By tram, the no.59 from Elizabeth Street will take you to Moonee Ponds.
If you’re driving to Moonee Valley, things are simple as the track is only a few minutes from the center of Melbourne. Follow Elizabeth Street and Flemington Road, then head left to Mt Alexander Road. Follow on from there to Moonee Ponds junction and the racecourse is clearly signposted.
